Where to Stay Near Tachikawa & GREEN SPRINGS

Tachikawa is close enough to central Tokyo that most visitors don't need to change hotel bases just for this festival — but it's a reasonable option if you'd rather not travel home late.

Option 1: Stay Central, Ride the Chuo Line Out

If you're already based in central Tokyo — Shinjuku is the most convenient reference point — Tachikawa is about 30 minutes away on the JR Chuo Line (Rapid), with no transfers. For most itineraries, this is the simpler choice: you keep your existing hotel and treat the festival as an evening trip.

Option 2: Base Yourself in Tachikawa

GREEN SPRINGS itself includes a hotel on-site, and Tachikawa Station's surrounding area has a range of standard business hotels within easy walking distance. Staying locally makes sense if you're visiting on all three festival days, want to avoid a late-night train back into central Tokyo, or are combining the trip with nearby Showa Kinen Park (see our sample itinerary).

What to Weigh

  • Last-train timing: Tokyo's train network winds down overnight; if you're staying central, check the last Chuo Line departure from Tachikawa before committing to a full evening at the festival.
  • Crowds at closing time: station approaches get busy as the festival ends each night — factor in extra time, especially on the Saturday and the final holiday Monday.
  • Multi-day visits: if you're attending more than one night, a Tachikawa base cuts out repeat commuting.
